The Latcham Gallery is very pleased to present this solo exhibition of work by Guelph artist Tina Newlove. The exhibition includes new paintings as well as mixed media work and sound all around the theme of protection and its role in contemporary life. Newlove’s paintings are beautifully ornate and decorative, many appearing on first glance quite abstract with intricate patterns of colours, shapes and textures. In them, however, she investigates different aspects of the human condition. Although her subject matter often deals with difficult or disturbing themes, the delicate manner in which she treats her paintings and her compassionate approach make them attractive to viewers who are then drawn in to the narrative.
